Scoring Zone GolfLancashire is one of England's richest counties for golf society days. The combination of links courses along the Fylde coast, parkland courses inland, and moorland tracks in the hills gives society organisers a genuinely varied choice. Whether the group wants a classic links test at Royal Lytham, a relaxed parkland round at Leyland, or a scenic moorland challenge at Mytton Fold, Lancashire delivers. The county has more golf courses per square mile than almost anywhere else in England.
For golf society days, the best courses are those that challenge every handicap level without being punishing for the higher handicappers in the group. Wide fairways, clear hazards, and a mix of risk-reward holes keep the round enjoyable for everyone. Stableford scoring is the format of choice for most society days — which means the strategic advice is to protect your card on the hard holes and attack on the par 5s.

For a premium society day, Royal Lytham and St Annes or Fairhaven Golf Club on the Fylde coast are outstanding choices. For a more accessible society day that still delivers a great experience, Leyland Golf Club and Penwortham Golf Club offer excellent value and a warm welcome to visiting groups.
Stableford is the most popular format for society days because it keeps every player engaged even after a bad hole. Individual Stableford, team Stableford, or a Texas Scramble are all excellent choices for mixed-handicap groups.
For the most popular courses during the summer season (May to September), booking 3 to 6 months in advance is advisable. Midweek society days are generally easier to book and often better value than weekend slots.
